“I had a breakthrough with paint application in this painting. I slowed down and almost rolled the paint off with each mark, trying to get as much out of it as possible. Each mark is full of body, texture, multiple colours sometimes, fresh and fully formed. It is a more intentional way of painting, slowed down and I like it. Each painting has its own unique voice that can’t be replicated and seems to be entirely dependent on my energy and internal state that day.” - Holly Zandbergen
